Explorations
HGML has been granted permits from Government of Karnataka to explore
in 3 blocks
1. Chikkanayakanahalli, Sira (1135.29 sq. km)
2. Chikanayakanahalli, Gubbi and Turuvekere Taluks of Tumkur District
and Gadag (150 sq. km)
3. Dharwar South Block in Haveri, Bellary, Shimoga and Davangere Districts
(4102.80 sq. km)
In Chikkanayakanahalli Block, detailed exploratory work commenced in
November 2003 and completed in April 2004. Apart from known gold prospects
at Bellara, a number gold prospects are reported have also been studied
and identified. The preliminary grab samples collected around these
prospects/old workings are under analysis for a future detailed exploration
work. The results of the study have revealed the Bellara Mines seems
to be more promising for taking up detailed exploration by exploratory
mine development and plans are on hand for taking up detailed diamond
drilling programme covering about 1700 was completed. Proposals are
also on hand to reclaim the abandoned mines to facilitate examination
of levels developed earlier.
With respect to Gadag Block, for which preliminary studies have been
completed in June 2004, the results of work are not so encouraging from
the point of view of further detailed work.
The Dharwar South Block, the preliminary studies along with previous
literature, published maps and other documents have been collected to
assess the future plan of action. A study of the literature has revealed
that some of the gold prospects in Chinmulugund, Pallavanahalli and
Kuderekunda, appears to be promising deposits for extraction and transportation
of ore for processing in a central place. In Palavanahalli and Kuderekunda,
geological mapping is completed. After further analysis and study, HGML
shall request the concerned for further detailed exploration and development.
